Brooke Shields Goes Vintage in Sentimental Pearl and Crystal Embroidered Gown for the New York City Ballet 2024 Fall Fashion Gala

Brooke Shields opted for a sentimental fashion choice for the New York City Ballet’s 2024 Fall Fashion Gala on Wednesday. The “Mother of the Bride” star joined the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Tiffany Haddish and more for the red carpet event.

For the occasion, Shields wore a nostalgic cream gown that once belonged to her mother, Teri Shields. “I’m wearing my mother’s dress when she met the queen,” Shields told reporters upon arrival to the event in a video circulated by content creator Mickey Blank. The vintage dress was adorned with a bevy of pearl and crystals.

Beneath Shields’ bustline, the plain skirt flowed for a refined silhouette, harkening back to formal styles of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The bodice featured pearls and crystal embellishments, showcasing ornate patterns that extended to the flowing sleeves, complemented by a rounded neckline.

The iconic Calvin Klein model coordinated the dress with her accessories, adding a pair of statement drop earrings with a pearl and shimmering elements, along with a bow that nodded to the balletcore trend seen on the spring 2025 runway.

Over the course of the last several years, Shields’ modeling career transitioned into business and entrepreneurial ventures. The model and actress launched a new hair care line in June, Commence, with an emphasis on empowering women in a particular chapter of their lives.

“When I hit this age, I had a sense of accomplishment, but also this excitement that there is more to look forward to,” 59-year-old Shields told WWD’s Beauty Inc last May. “I wanted this optimism to be something that we all shared with regards to how we age.”

This new chapter of Shields’ life is also about creating conversations for women and dispelling taboo topics. “This period of life is a beginning. It’s a call to action,” Shields said. “This is about looking at your life in its entirety and saying, ‘How do I want to walk through this period?’”
