It was all moody beach at Tuesday morning’s Chanel show, with creative director Virginie Viard setting her show against scenes of Deauville at sunset.
But Riley Keough has another sunset on her mind: the upcoming film “Sunset Sasquatch,” in which she plays one of the mythical creatures.
The experience was transformative, she said, not only for the costumes, which were fully furry, but for the way it taught her to approach movement. The crew and cast, including Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, went to “Sasquatch camp.” It entailed a lot of eating with your hands, said Keough.
“We actually had a lot of freedom in terms of how we were developing the Sasquatch movement, because it’s not like we’re mimicking a real thing,” she said. “It was hilarious and super fun. I found a video on my phone the other day of like 25 minutes of us just learning how to eat like a Sasquatch in rehearsal. It’s totally crazy.”
What lessons does one take from being a furry monster? “It was honestly an incredibly fulfilling experience because you don’t ever get to do something like that unless you’re a proper creature performer. So it was really fun and incredibly difficult. I have so much respect for creature work in a way, now that I know how it’s really challenging to perform in a suit and prosthetics.”
The film is out in mid-April, and Keough will probably stick to human clothes for the red carpet.

“The Joker: Part Deux” actress Zazie Beetz is in between big projects. The sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix will be released in the fall.
She didn’t get the role after her initial audition, asked for notes and then auditioned multiple times. “I felt so strongly, I was like, I love this movie so much.” The first “no” was a blow, but she wouldn’t take that word for an answer. “I thought I could do it, I wanted to fight for it, and if I’m down to fight, I’ll fight for it.”
She got that role, opposite Joaquin Phoenix, which will be out this fall. After the Chanel show, Beetz is getting ready to spend three months in South Africa shooting the new Gore Verbinski film “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die“ with Sam Rockwell. The title “would be a great tattoo,” she joked.
The actress said it was love at first read about a year ago. “Almost instantly — like a full on ‘hell yeah,’” she said.
Beetz has an unusual prep for the South Africa set. “Now that Tyla is so popular, I’m like yes, I am getting in the mood.”

Australian actress Charlee Fraser is still basking in the big bucks of “Anyone but You,” her rom-com with Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.
“I open my phone and every time there’s another milestone. I’m like guys, it’s happening,” she said of the film, which crossed the $200 million global box office line last week. It’s a unique position in time when the conventional wisdom is that movie theaters are dead.
“[Rom-coms] haven’t been around for a while, and I really think it was something that we all needed right now as well. Some love, some fun,” she said. And some beach — though she joked that Australian beaches are “very pared-back, and very cheap” as opposed to the Chanel version that was on the big screen during the show.
Next Fraser will switch gears into “Mad Max” mode, starring in the upcoming “Furiosa.” She grew up with an unusual set of skills, which she got to put to work on set.
“I grew up riding road bikes. That was one of the things my dad taught me first, dirt bikes. That was just so lucky. I’m very thankful to have rocked up to ‘Mad Max’ knowing that already because so much of the set is filled with these incredibly orchestrated bikes for the [‘Mad Max’] world.”
Filming in the post-apocalyptic world was very physical, and she went through horse riding, firearms and martial arts training for the role.
She’s in love with her character, who still hasn’t been named, and she wouldn’t reveal more. “I feel deeply tied to her, and I care about her a lot.”
The last “Mad Max” movie premiered at Cannes, and this one has a chance to as well. Fraser is hoping for it. “In my mind, I’m telling myself like, yes, it’s happening. I’m preparing as if it’s going to be there,” she said.

“Raised by Wolves” star Amanda Collin has been announced to star in the second season of “House of the Dragon.”
Her floral pantsuit was partly practical — it had deep pockets that even had a dedicated thumb holder, which she was keen to demonstrate — and part Elton John. The sparkle and the slight bell bottom had a bright fun vibe, quite the opposite of the characters she usually plays.
As for “Dragon,” she would only confirm that she “did take a little trip to London” during the filming and that she does not play the titular dragon.
She is working on another heist film in which she plays a supporting role. “It’s always men doing the cool stuff like driving and shooting. I hope that someone writes a female heist story soon,” Collin said.

It was a big morning for singer Olivia Dean. Her very first time as a headliner, at the upcoming jazz festival Love Supreme Festival, was revealed just minutes before she arrived at the Chanel show. She’ll be on the bill with Dionne Warwick and Chaka Khan.
“It’s unbelievable. I showed my mom the poster before it got announced and she cried,” said Dean of performing alongside the legends.
Proving the point that sometimes it’s a very small world, Dean said she’s met Khan before — at “Flippers Roller Boogie Palace,” the roller rink owned by Usher in Los Angeles. She deemed the encounter “crazy.”
Dean hopes to be equally crazy — at least fashion-wise — onstage at the festival.
“I want something wild. I feel like if people are coming to see the show, I want to give him a show. So I like to wear something a little bit quite fab and elevated, but then still comfortable.”
Comfort was key for her Chanel look, which included a swimsuit from the spring collection paired with a full skirt and flats. She was also carrying a mini bag so small that nothing but a single lipstick fit inside.
“It’s all you need,” she said of her smoky brown shade.
British actress Jasmine Jobson, who has appeared in several U.K. TV shows, is about to break big with “Bird,” from Oscar-winner Andrea Arnold. She costars in the drama with Barry Keoghan. Details were under wraps, but she heaped praise on her costar Keoghan. “He’s doing so well for himself,” she said, after his “Saltburn” boom.
The film is tipped for a Cannes berth, but all Jobson would say is: “It’s gonna be epic.”
Jobson predicts the same for her career after “Bird” and the upcoming Hamlet modernization. “I want my face everywhere, and then there’s no way that you’re not going to know who Jasmine Jobson is. Jobson, I get the job done,” she joked. “I’m going to take over the world.
“I’m always trying to remind myself that I’m still Jazz from West London,” she added. “Did little Jasmine ever think that I would be changing perceptions and pulling up to major fashion shows? No, I didn’t, only that it was a dream that I never, ever thought was going to happen. But here I am in this dream I’ve had since I was a little girl and it’s now my reality, and I’m loving it.”
The actress wants young dreamers to know never to give up. “Don’t take no nonsense, just don’t think — just do,” she said. “You’re gonna smash it.” Her positivity radiated from the front row in the sunset glow.
