Cher Channels Subtle Punk Aesthetic With Blond Waves, Safety-pin Jacket and Wide-leg Denim on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’

Cher showed off her new blond tresses and a refined take on the punk aesthetic during her appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in New York City, which airs Tuesday. The legendary singer and actress’ memoir, “Cher: The Memoir — Part One,” was released on Nov. 19.

For her daytime talk show appearance, the “Moonstruck” Oscar-winning actress opted for sleek, semi-monochrome attire with pop star edge. The singer wore a pair of high-waisted, wide-leg jeans, which she coordinated with a bold long-sleeve jacket.

The jacket featured an oversize safety pin as a central button, a hallmark of punk frequently favored by the stra, blending utility with edge. Cher wore a black shirt beneath the jacket and accessorized her look with layers of metallic silver necklaces and rings.

Cher’s new bright blond tresses popped against the dark ensemble, styled with a middle part and soft waves cascading down her shoulders.

The longtime pop star and venerated style icon’s fashion choices influenced several designers over the years.

“’Style icon’ doesn’t come close to describing her achievement of defining more than a half-century’s worth of fashion’s trends,” Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing said of Cher. The “Believe” singer previously closed out the spring 2023 ready-to-wear show for the French luxury fashion house in September 2022.

“And, in this challenging age that compels us to fight for long-overdue changes, her impressive, long-term commitment to dedicated activism is an example to all,” Rousteing said.

Cher memorably collaborated with noted designer Bob Mackie on several occasions throughout her career. The singer wore two dresses by the designer at the 1986 and 1988 Academy Awards.

The actress and singer’s memoir, “Cher: The Memoir — Part One,” chronicles the icon’s life from 1946 until 1976. A second part of the memoir, focusing on the latter decades of Cher’s life, is in the works.
