Cristiano Ronaldo piqued interests while accepting the Global Soccer Award in Dubai on Friday. The football star picked up two awards, named the Best Middle Eastern Player as well as the Top Goalscorer of All Time.
For the event, Ronaldo, who plays for the Al-Nassr team, wore a pearl grey wool suit from Givenchy. The jacket of the suit featured two slit pockets as well as a harness design that looped around the back of the neck. A slimmer fit, the jacket also notably included a U-Lock metal embellishment on the harness.
Metallic locks were first introduced as a house code at Givenchy in 2020 under Matthew Williams. He was inspired by the tradition of leaving padlocks on Paris’ Le Pont des Arts. He used locks on jackets, boots as well as bags often, becoming one of his signatures. Williams left the company in 2023.
Ronaldo complemented the suit with a Jacob & Co. Royal Baguette watch. The wrist-piece is 18 carat white gold, fully set with baguette-cut diamonds and one rose-cut diamonds on the crown.
Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., also attended the event. He wore a Louis Vuitton mink black, grey and blue jacket. It features the LV logo on the chest as well as a pixelated print, which Pharrell Williams re-introduced to the label in his tenure. He paired it with black pants.
While picking up the trophies, he referred to his longtime girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez as his wife. During his acceptance speech, Ronaldo said “It’s a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, my wife is here.” The two have been together since 2016 though they have never publicly stated they were married.
Rodriguez also opted for black, wearing a black lace dress featuring a peekaboo satin bodice. The bodycon dress was long sleeved and paired with black pointed toe pumps. She also wore a necklace and earrings featuring yellow diamonds and carried a black crocodile Hermes Birkin bag.
