Cult Gaia, the Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand, has teamed up with Raxxy, a luxury down jacket brand, to create a limited-edition collection of statement jackets.
Available exclusively in white and black colorways, the collaboration combines Cult Gaia’s sculptural point of view with Raxxy’s avant-garde designs.
The jackets transition between day and night and are designed with high-quality, sustainable materials that reflect both brands’ dedication to craftsmanship and responsible production.
The collaboration features Raxxy’s patented 5D down jacket technique, inspired by traditional Chinese craftsmanship such as bamboo weaving.
William Shen, founder of Raxxy, which has bases in Shanghai and Milan, engineered a design process rooted in mathematical precision and architectural geometry, transforming simple materials into sculptural pieces.
“When we received the invitation from Cult Gaia for co-branding, I was curious about the brand and started to get to know the brand. The first impression it gave me was that Cult Gaia is a brand full of artistic imagination, elegance and femininity. The collaboration between the two is based on the ingenious combination of the artistic creation concepts and fashion of the two brands which jointly promoted this collaboration,” said Shen.
Jasmin Larian Hekmat, founder of Cult Gaia, said, “It’s so inspiring to work alongside someone with such a distinct vision, who is also a creative genius in his own right. It’s an honor to incorporate his creativity into our aesthetic and share it with our customers. Every time I wore his jacket, people would ask if it was Cult Gaia, so this collaboration felt incredibly natural. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever done before.”
The exclusive collaboration will be available exclusively at cultgaia.com and select Cult Gaia locations on Dec. 10. The cropped white and black cropped jacket is $2,490, and the long version, in white only, is $2,390.
As reported in October, Cult Gaia partnered with The Gap for a 35-piece women’s and kids’ holiday collection. That collaboration highlighted a range of statement pieces that combine Gap’s essentials with Cult Gaia’s modern, sculptural influence.
Shen, who founded Raxxy, is a former economics student and a mathematical prodigy. His passion for fashion led him to create innovative techniques such as the 5D down jacket which incorporates elements of traditional Chinese culture and weaving with modern 3D construction. The company made its debut at Shanghai Fashion Week in 2020.
Hekmat said the collaboration was a natural fit since both Cult Gaia and Raxxy are committed to pushing boundaries, although in different ways. “We were drawn to Raxxy’s bold experimentation with new materials and their futuristic take on design. Meanwhile our vision at Cult Gaia has always been about creating pieces that are as much art as they are fashion. When we connected, it became clear that a partnership would allow us to explore something truly unique merging our sculptural, timeless ethos with their forward-thinking innovation.”
She noted that the designs were truly a partnership. “We worked closely with the Raxxy team, blending Cult Gaia’s signature sculptural and timeless aesthetic with Raxxy’s innovative approach. It was a collaborative process where both brands brought their unique strengths to the table. Together we created pieces that feel true to both our identities.”
She noted that for now, it’s a onetime offering, “Although we’re always open to exploring where our shared creativity could take us next.”
She noted that the radial detailing is inspired by the sun’s rays. “We wanted to create something that feels like wearable art, something that empowers the wearer to stand out while embodying the essence of both brands.”
She noted that the customer for these jackets “is someone who isn’t afraid to make a statement and wants pieces that feel unique and meaningful.” She said the collection speaks to individuals “who see fashion as an extension of their personality and a way to stand out in a crowd.”
