Carrots has teamed up with Walmart to debut a streetwear capsule for the whole family. “Homegrown,” the new collection of graphic sweats and T-shirts, is available to shop online and in select Walmart stores on Thursday.
“The idea of accessibility, self-reliance and intentionality — blended with personal style and taste —inspired the name ‘Homegrown,’” founder Anwar Carrots told WWD. “It’s a great play on words, reflecting the juxtaposition between farm life and fashion. Walmart has always felt like a reliable, comforting space to me — a modern extension of ‘home’ where you can find everything needed to live and thrive.”
In honor of the collection, Carrots and his family front a campaign inspired by his farm-to-table approach to fashion design, which Carrots said “embodies themes of authenticity, sustainability and staying connected to the source — which, in this case, is the people.”
“It’s about growing or creating something at home and bringing it directly to the consumer,” he added.
The collection also includes nods to Carrots’ own children, whose initials are featured in a windmill graphic on the Farm Kids T-shirt.
Carrots founded his eponymous label in 2015 and has since collaborated with major brands like Champion, Puma and K-Swiss. For the fashion designer, partnering with Walmart is a full-circle moment, as he grew up shopping at the big-box store.
“It’s inspiring to work with a brand so deeply connected to people’s everyday lives, especially when it comes to making quality and affordability a priority,” Carrots said. “With this collection, we’ve created something that resonates with families, celebrates growth, and brings everyone together, proving that inclusivity and empowerment can go hand-in-hand.”
While the Carrots x Walmart collection includes coordinating sets, the designer encourages customers to mix and match colors, or pair new items with pieces from previous collections, akin to “buying a rainbow bunch of carrots.”
