The Met Gala after parties might bill their start time as 11 p.m. — or in the case of the Boom Boom Room’s, 10 p.m. — but the VIPs don’t make their way out of their hotels and into the night in look two until the wee hours of the morning.
Such was the case at the famous party held in the Standard, High Line hotel, which has historically been the party to attend. As the Met has grown, so has the party scene, and there is now a huge amount of competition on the after party beat. No longer are there a select few official parties to hit, but rather a dozen of them all across town, from those involved with the gala to those that are not.
But the Boom Boom Room still draws a crowd, as was the case Monday night after midnight. FKA Twigs was the special attendee, as she hit the DJ table, danced on top of the famed wraparound bar and then performed two songs. Jeff Bezos and Met Gala first-timer Lauren Sanchez hit the party, waltzing in and immediately beelining for the VIP area of sofas.
Camila Cabello and Lil Nas X arrived hand in hand, Jeremy Pope posed with “Baby Reindeer” actress Nava Mau, Christian Siriano and Coco Rocha passed a bottle around a table and Sam Smith kept close to boyfriend and Met look designer Christian Cowan.
