Kelly Clarkson braved the cold at the 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony with a little help from Alaïa. Hosting the event held in New York on Wednesday, the singer took the stage dressed in a dramatic black winter coat from the luxury fashion house.
Made in Italy, Clarkson’s coat featured a suede-like texture created by a chenille yarn and fine wool and a knitted fur shawl collar, which was replicated in the lower hem and cuffs. The singer completed the look with slouchy black boots, leather gloves and diamond hoop earrings.
Clarkson was styled by Micaela Erlanger, with whom she’s been working since Clarkson’s move to New York in 2023.
“I think maybe in the past, there was a different perspective on how to showcase her perfect gear and my feeling was, ‘No, let’s embrace it, and let’s show it off and let’s highlight it, and let’s do that in the most flattering way’,” Erlanger previously told WWD about her experience of working with Clarkson. The stylist also collaborates with Meryl Streep and Lupita Nyong’o.
Since working with Erlanger, Clarkson has been seen in more luxury outfits from brands including Gucci, and Alexander McQueen.
Clarkson hosted the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony for the second year in a row. In addition to her hosting duties, she also performed during the event, gifting viewers with holiday songs from her own repertoire. The singer recently released a new Christmas single, “You for Christmas,” produced by Mark Ronson & Andrew Wyatt.
