Kelly Clarkson looked back into the archives for her look on “The Voice” Season 26 finale on Tuesday. The eponymous talk show host and venerated singer performed her song “You for Christmas,” from the deluxe edition of her 2021 holiday album “When Christmas Comes Around…Again.”
Clarkson wore a gown with allover shimmering details, sheer fabric and feather embellishments courtesy of Alexander McQueen‘s fall 2017 ready-to-wear collection. The dress featured an ornate design, with a bevy of intricate silver, sinuous designs all over the bodice, skirt and long sleeves of the dress.
The look also included sheer detailing, with sheer fabric beneath the silver embroidery on the sleeves, bodice and skirt of the gown. At the end of the cuffs and the hem of the skirt were layers of taupe feathers. The look was wholly evocative of glamourous holiday-inspired attire.
As for Clarkson’s glam, the singer’s hair was styled with voluminous curls courtesy of Robert Ramos. Her makeup featured a smokey eye, rosy cheeks and a bold red lip for an added pop of color by artist Gloria Elias-Foeillet. Clarkson’s look was curated by Micaela Erlanger, who’s been collaborating with the singer since her move to New York City in 2023.
Curated by designer Sarah Burton, who previously served as Alexander McQueen’s creative director until her departure in September 2023, the fall 2017 ready-to-wear collection made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week in March 2017.
“Throughout, the silhouette was linear and sensual. Body-con ribbed knits were attached to gold mesh in ‘soft armor’ mode, or were whipstitched for graphic intensity,” Bridget Foley wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
“Embroideries featured renderings of flora and fauna, each picture symbolic of something, their meanings sprung from ancient pagan ritual or the designer’s own musings. Tailoring was languid as well, ingeniously so, retaining the precise McQueen shoulder before falling into relaxed asymmetry.”
