Linda Evangelista, Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls and More Celebrate Steven Meisel’s Zara Collaboration

The man of the hour — Steven Meisel — may have been a no-show at his own party Friday evening, but his name alone was enough to draw some of fashion’s biggest names to his gathering.

The legendary photographer has collaborated with Zara on a collection, which was feted Friday evening in SoHo. Guests included Linda Evangelista, Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls, Candice Swanepoel, Karolina Kurkova, Veronica Webb, Alton Mason, Liya Kebede, Karen Elson, Paloma Elsesser, Precious Lee, Coco Rocha and more, who were hosted by Inditex’s Marta Ortega Pérez.

“I started my career with Steven, we did our first Italian Vogue shoot together,” Webb said of the photographer. “It was me, Steven, Kevin Aucoin.”

Webb brought her daughter Molly Blue Robb, who’s now a teenager and who was part of her favorite photo Meisel took of her.

“Everything about Steven is special. He’s a real artist. He’s done my most emotional pictures. He took my portrait for Vogue when I was pregnant with her,” Webb said, motioning to her daughter.

Gerber, now moving more and more into Hollywood with recent roles in projects like “Bottoms,” was seen turning down requests for interviews, saying, “I can’t do an interview.”

Fresh from literally dancing down the Christian Siriano runway, Rocha posed for photographers in one of the Zara line’s black trenchcoats before ducking into a corner and doing a quick outfit change: under the trench was a silver sequined minidress and matching thigh-high boots. She wouldn’t pose for photos in the new look, politely smiling as she ducked out into the rain. It is New York Fashion Week after all: there’s always another event calling.
