Michelle Obama danced her way onto the set of the “Jennifer Hudson Show” on Tuesday, making her entrance in Bottega Veneta.
The former first lady chose a black leather dress from the brand’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The look featured a scoop neckline, which was partially covered by a gray oversize blazer, and high-waist skirt that was designed with an asymmetrical hem. She accessorized with black leather knee-high boots and geometric earrings.
Creative director Matthieu Blazy was announced as Chanel’s selection for its new fashion creative director on Thursday after serving at the helm of Bottega Veneta since November 2021. He will be responsible for haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories collections, and his first collection is expected to debut in October.
Obama, who was promoting her new book “Overcoming: A Workbook,” chatted with the eponymous talk show host about shopping for her husband, former president Barack Obama, and tapping her stylist Meredith Koop for gift giving advice.
“I’m trying to get him clothes he wouldn’t buy because he’s also cheap,” Obama said. “If it’s a really nice jacket, I’m like, ‘don’t look at the price.’ He’s like, ‘why did you spend so much on a jacket.’ I was like, ‘that’s what a gift is.’”
Obama added that she often looks to her stylist Koop for guidance on what to get her daughters, Sasha and Malia.
“The true best gift giver happens to be my stylist, Meredith, because I ask her, ‘what do the girls want?’ I’m not out there shopping like you guys, it’s not like I can drive by the mall and shut it down. All of you would be mad, there would be traffic stops, but I’m the one who organizes gift giving, so I’m the one who makes Christmas happen.”
