For the athlete’s first-round match, Osaka wore a black and gray Nike kit with pops of color and sunflower motifs. Upon taking the court, the 2019 and 2021 Australian Open champion styled a Nike jacket overtop her black bodysuit and gray, black and white tennis skirt.

Osaka continued the black and white color display with a black visor and black wrist bands with the white Nike logo embossed on the fabric. While Osaka’s 2025 Australian Open tennis kit was largely black and white, she did add pops of color by way of her shoes and accessories.

Osaka continued to add small sunflower elements to her look through her accessories. The venerated athlete added sunflower clips to her long, braided hair and wore sunflower earrings for an added touch of color.

Sunflowers are native to North America and symbolize qualities of strength and resilience due to the length at which they grow. Following the birth of her daughter in July 2023, Osaka made her return to the tennis circuit in 2024, with the Australian Open marking her first Grand Slam tournament return since giving birth.

Osaka spoke with WWD in August 2024, ahead of the U.S. Open, about her return to tennis and new approach to the game. “Things I used to take for granted when I was younger, I can’t afford to do that now,” she said. “It’s incredible how much work goes into being a tennis player. Maybe I didn’t know that before. But now I’m definitely realizing it.”

Osaka signed with Nike in 2019. She’s also partnered with Louis Vuitton. Other endorsements include Mastercard, Beats Electronics and more.

The 2025 Australian Open concludes on Jan. 26 in Melbourne. Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Jannik Sinner of Italy return to defend their respective women’s and men’s singles titles. The tournament also features such tennis stars as Coco Gauff, Frances Tiafoe, Iga Świątek and Novak Djokovic.
