Onitsuka Tiger RTW Spring 2024

It’s never easy to strike a balance between comfort and chic, but Andrea Pompilio managed it, sending out a collection for the Asics-owned Onitsuka Tiger that could work as easily on the sofa as it could on the street.

These clothes were made for movement, and the fluid dresses, some with racer details, were a dream. A long, T-shirt style came with embellishment at the front; while a swingy black style with long sleeves had a snazzy bit of ruching. Others were sheer, or had cutout details, or were layered over shorts.

Trousers, shorts and T-shirts were roomy while the oversized ribbed knits were like a big embrace.

The clothes weren’t even the best part. Footwear stole the show, naturally, and the yellow-edged, high-top sneakers were only part of the story.

Pompilio whipped up strappy, velvet platform sandals in earthy shades of teal, sage and burnt orange, and tall, fabric boots with tractor soles.

Some of the boots were black, while others were yellow, a nod to the brand’s Yellow Collection, and its new concept store that opened last month in Ginza, Tokyo.
