A spring trip to the New York Botanical Gardens set the tone for Derek Lam 10 Crosby. The brand has laid the groundwork for a bit of a reset and now is charting a path forward. “Being a New York brand, it was important for us to base that inspiration off of what’s around us,” said Yana Popov, the brand’s design director. “What’s in New York is really important.”

The look: House classics with color, texture and print through the lens of flowers in bloom.

Quote of note: “It’s meant to feel like light, happy and and fresh. And we really are trying to encourage women to play with color, even in their professional settings,” Popov said.

Key pieces: Light Tencel denim, shirtdresses and knits with pre-styled details, flared full skirts, compact knits and matching floral sets.

Takeaway: Real clothes that channel Derek Lam’s original DNA of little design twists to make them special. “She has her other resources for classic basics, we are her resource for wardrobe building pieces. People are gonna stop and ask you, ‘where’d you get that from?’” Popov said if the 10 Crosby customer.
