Venus Williams arrived on court for her first singles match of the 2023 U.S. Open against Belgium’s Greet Minnen on Tuesday, channeling Barbiecore fashion. This was Venus’ 100th career U.S. Open match, however, it ended up with her losing by 6-1, 6-1.
Williams wore a pink sports tank and pink capri tights from her EleVen by Venus Williams line with white tennis sneakers from Lacoste. She completed her look with white wristbands, a white visor and hoop earrings.

Williams’ look was on par with the Barbiecore-pink trend that has swept the fashion industry since the teaser trailer for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie premiered in summer 2022.

In February 2022, Williams was named an ambassador for Lacoste, hence her choice of footwear for the match. Lacoste is also one of the sponsors of tennis player Novak Djokovic, who is favored to make it to the finals of the U.S. Open and is expected to face off against Carlos Alcaraz again, just like they did at Wimbledon.
Williams is a history-making athlete. She’s a two-time U.S. Open champion. For a while, it was unclear if Williams would make it to this year’s U.S. Open as she suffered a leg injury that left her unable to play for five months.
