Victoria Monét turned the clock back 20 years with her look on Sunday at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. When the music artist hit the red carpet, she did so in an homage to the aughts.
Monét wore a head-to-toe Y2K fashion throwback consisting of a pleated and frayed denim mini skirt in an acid-wash, a paper-thin sleeveless tee and pointed-toe stiletto boots. She topped off the look with a pearl and silver lariat necklace and silver drop earrings.
Monét, who won Best New Artist (R&B) at the iHeartRadio Music Awards show in April, did an outfit change to perform at the music festival. She started out her performance in a glittering pinstriped coat and a rhinestone-trimmed fedora before shedding them to reveal laced up chaps and a matching crystal-dotted bustier. Monét treated the crowd at the festival to a medley of her songs, including “Alright” and “On My Mama,” for which she wore a hat bearing rhinestone letters that spelled out the name of the song.
Monét’s embrace of aughts fashion is right on-trend, between the return of the micro miniskirt on Miu Miu’s spring 2022 runway, the resurgence of ballet flats, Uggs and low-rise jeans, and, even, the popping up of one very specific 2000s red carpet trend: wearing a dress with jeans.
The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival also included performances from Doja Cat, Gwen Stefani, The Weeknd, Halsey, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello and Chris Martin, to name a handful. The two-day event took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
