WWD to Host Its First Style Awards and Red Carpet Livestream for the Golden Globes

In its 82nd iteration, the Golden Globe Awards—more broadly known as the Golden Globes—will recognize excellence in international television and film on Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. EST. But this year, fashion is taking a leading role, with WWD’s first annual Style Awards and its Eye on the Red Carpet live-stream from the Golden Globes, which will air on Amazon Live and WWD’s Storefront on Amazon Beauty.

The event, red carpet show and coverage are being done in partnership with Amazon Beauty, Four Seasons, Jared and Parfums de Marly.

The WWD Style Awards presentation and dinner, which will take place on the evening of Jan. 3 at the Four Seasons Hotel, will “celebrate the fashion and beauty tastemakers, muses, legends and luminaries whose creativity, craft and style ignite the magic of the red carpet.”

As part of the program, the publication is presenting the WWD Style Suite, which will be hosted at the Four Seasons Los Angeles on Jan. 3. The WWD Style Suite will bring the pages of the consumer-facing WWD Weekend to life, the brand said, adding that it will be an exclusive experience where nominees, stylists and industry VIPs “enjoy curated gifting and luxurious pampering throughout Golden Globes weekend, setting the stage for unforgettable red-carpet moments.”

In support of the events and awards ceremony, WWD has also created a special content channel, WWD Eye on the Golden Globes, which features “in-depth reporting that goes beyond the look, and into the fascinating details that create the red carpet magic fans obsess over throughout awards season.”

The awards show channel spotlights this year’s Golden Globes host, comedian Nikki Glaser, in a feature by WWD Eye Editor Leigh Nordstrom. When Nordstrom asked about the impetus behind hosting the famed event, Glaser said, “My agents knew that I wanted January completely off to get a brow lift or whatever my doctor suggested, and they were like, ‘Are you still having a procedure? And I go, ‘No, what’s going on?’ They’re like, ‘What about hosting the Golden Globes?’”
