Ken Buck: Tired Of Lying For Trump, Sadly Still Not Tired Of Lying

Rep. Ken Buck explained to News Nation’s Chris Stirewalt why he is retiring from Congress, and apparently he’s very tired of feeling like he needs to lie for Trump, but he was more than happy to dish out a huge heaping helping of revisionist history on the so-called Tea Party while he was at it.

Here’s Buck’s response when Stirewalt asked him whether he changed or did his party change.

BUCK: Well, it’s a great question, because I don’t, I haven’t changed. My my goal is still to reduce federal spending and reduce the national debt, our annual deficit. What has changed is the world around me has changed dramatically. We’ve gone from a time when the Tea Party stood for conservative principles, for constitutional principles, to a time where the populists have taken over the Republican Party and are really advocating things that I believe are very dangerous.

The Tea Party was a group of of individuals who believe that the constitution should be strictly adhered to, sort of grew out of the Obama, Obamacare time frame when federal, when health care was being federalized and people were scared. Now we are into this, we’ll play by the same rules as the other side, and we’ll burn the building just like the other side. It scares me.

STIREWALT: So why… why leave? what’s so why?

BUCK: The The MAGA crowd ran a primary against me last time. I won 75-25. I’m not concerned about a primary. I’m not concerned about losing a general election.

You know, the time is right. I’m at a point in my life where I want to do different things. I want to enjoy my family more, I want to be… less business travel and more recreational travel. There are a lot of things that went into the decision.

But really we’re at a time in American politics, that I am not going to lie on behalf of my presidential candidate, on behalf of my party. And I’m very sad that others in my party have taken the position that, as long as we get the White House, it doesn’t really matter what we say.

Sorry dude, but the “Tea Party” was nothing more than an Astroturf movement that took advantage of the fact that a bunch of Republicans lost their damned minds when a Black man was elected president, bought and paid for by a bunch of millionaires and billionaires who wanted to make sure the insurance companies could keep gouging working Americans, and there was nothing “principled” about it. You were as awful and as reactionary then as you are now, and yes, it’s escalated under Trump, but you helped build this.

I’m glad Buck is finally speaking up about how dangerous Trump is, and I’m sure it’s not without risk given how insane Trump’s cult is. It’s a shame the few Republicans showing even a small amount of backbone are the ones running for the exit doors for the most part.

The pathetic thing is, even when they finally have a come to Jesus moment about Trump, they’re still taking up for their party and lying about how they’ve behaved in the past. And of course, no one in our corporate media is going to call them out for it.
